A Prayer to Follow God Today

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will,

for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground”.  Psalm 143: 8-10

I love this Psalm. David has a beautiful way with speaking His heart to the Lord. David’s struggle with sin was real but He knew that following God would be His greatest gift to the world. King David is asking for protection, and affirming his trust in God. Faith and trust are crucial as a follower of Christ.

He was saying here not only will I put my trust in You, every day God’s mercies are new. He was affirming His trust in all of who he was as well. Kind David affirmed that He considered himself a servant of the most high God. Laying down his fear and doubt, David knew he could walk without fear into the unknown of what a new day may hold. Words in this passage worthy of our focus today.

Dear Lord, I don’t know who or what will cross my path today. But I do know that You are my Rock and my Fortress. You are my Shield and my Strong Tower. Help me to anchor myself to You today. Teach me how to stand strong in You and choose only Your way today. Help me walk by Your truth and not my feelings. Help me to embrace anything that comes my way as an opportunity to see You at work and as an opportunity to point others to You. Thank You that You love me and nothing can ever take that away from me! Even if I fail today and fall short, You whisper Your unconditional love deep into my soul and remind me that Your mercies are new every morning. That truly amazes me, Lord. Thank You for meeting with me today. Would You wake me again tomorrow with the same sweet whisper of Your love? I can’t wait to meet with You again. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
