Morning Sixteen: Love The Life You Have

Morning Sixteen: A Prayer to Love the Life You Have

28 Days of Morning Prayer Focus

“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

A couple thousand years after Joseph ruled and was then left to rot in prison, Paul lived and wrote the same things about life.

“I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:11-13

What is the secret of joy and contentment in the face of whatever life brings? It’s centering and anchoring our joy and contentment in Christ, rather than in life.

John Piper says~

“When we have little and have lost much, Christ comes and reveals himself as more valuable than what we have lost. And when we have much and are overflowing in abundance, Christ comes and he shows that he is far superior to everything we have.”

Prayer:

God, help me love the life I live right now. Show me the good things I often overlook and help me be content with what I have. Forgive me when I compare myself to others, forgive me for longing for things outside of you and your kingdom. Thank you for loving me right where I am, right as I am. Help me keep my eyes on you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
